The Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) group, is offering 10 graduate students the chance to study for a Masters qualification at a UK university from September 2014.


Applications for 2014 scholarships open in November 2013.
About the NLNG Scholarship
•The NLNG Scholarship funds your study and contributes towards your living expenses for the duration of your Masters degree
•You must be 30 years of age or younger at the time of applying
•You must have completed your NYSC programme (or be finishing in early 2013)
•Limited to graduates with a first class or upper second class degree.
•The scholarship is for courses of study in the areas of engineering, geosciences, environmental sciences, management sciences, medicine and law.

REMEMBERING THE OLD WAYS OF COMMUNICATION

Technology is very important in any community.
Communication has really evolved can you imagine discussing with a friend in UK on skype. I can remember the days of letter writing.
Just remembered the old ways of communication.

Palm frond: The palm is a very important leave. The Catholic Church use is during Palm Sunday to signify Christ the king. In olden days and even in recent times the palm is used by road users during riot or protest. It signifies peace. If there is a riot and you must use the road, you have to put the palm on your car to signify peace.

TOWN CRIER: If you have been to any village in Nigeria you will be familiar with the town cries. They go around the village announcing about important events in the village. The town crier use instruments like drum or gongs.
SETTING BUSHES ON FIRE: This mode of communication is used to alert passerby. One has to be aware of this mode of communication because if you are marooned in the forest you need this means of communication to alert people at a distance that someone needs help.
GONG: The gong can also be used to make an announcement without saying anything. Some boarding schools also use this means of communication. Once the gong bear hits the gong everybody in the village gathers to a particular location known to all.
GUN POWDER: The gun powder is used for important dignitaries. It is used for burial of kings and to welcome important guest in a communication.
